Your incredible responses to 3 Questions.

It is with a very full heart that I share with you a compilation of your responses to last weeks 3 Questions.

In reading them I wish for you the same joy and inspiration that I felt, similar responses but delivered in different voices.

Every action says something about who we are and what matters to us.

Every non-action says something about who we are and what matters to us.

We do have a say in how our world operates, and the first place to start is within our own homes and within our own hearts.

Question 1

What “normal” do I want to keep:

“In the last couple of months, I’ve been working on shifting my awareness to the present rather than some “future me.” Though I still find importance in plans, I don’t invest in them like I used to—with such tenacity and hope, only to get upset when things didn’t work out—and instead want my trust to be placed in the moments I do have right here and right now. I would like to keep this “normal” I’m experiencing. “

“I would like to retain the daily walks along the beach and board walks. Improving my mindfulness and meditation techniques.”

“I want to keep smiling and saying hello to strangers. Hugs and beachside drinks n chats. I want our leaders to continue to work for a common good as they did momentarily when the fear for our countries wellbeing caused them to cooperate and not be critical of one another.”

“I want to keep my amazing gardening and my walks with my friend.”

“I want to keep seeing the beautiful autumn leaves falling whilst on my way to work.”

“Having more quiet time – less time moving around, more time to think (and produce good ideas! and execute them without interruption!)”

“I would like to retain the daily walks along the beach and board walks. Improving my mindfulness and meditation techniques.”

“I will keep daily meditations, looking inward and listening out for what there is to learn.  Weekends where we don’t leave the house, or if we do it’s on foot or bike!  We cook, we drink wine, we listen to music, we play, we dance and we enjoy our little family.   Kindness through connection.”

“Sunset walks on the beach with my family.”

“Long, slow afternoons with the family in front of the fire playing games or watching fun TV shows like “building log cabins”

“Group Zoom conversations with friends who live far away.”

“A general feeling of connectedness to my fellow human beings – whether they be neighbours, strangers, or much loved friends and family.”

“Long walks in the park with friends.”

Question 2

What “normal” do I want to leave behind?

“It was normal (for me) to feel like I had to maintain so many relationships… from growing up in Whittier, high school, college, graduate school, work, and now my LA life. Then, add on all the new relationships that come with marriage. It became too much and has been why I found keeping online accounts to be very overwhelming. One way I’ve been working on this is by engaging in more intentional and direct communication and letting expectations that I had created for myself go. It’s nice to have (video)calls, texts, emails, letters/cards, and in-person encounters when those can happen again! I’ll keep my media accounts, but in new ways.”

“I want people to have more connection with their local businesses and be more supportive.”

“I want to leave behind the isolation, discrimination and anger.”

“I want to leave behind the “busy”, saying yes when I want to say no and all the social interactions that are shallow and unnecessary.”

“I want to leave behind the hustle and bustle of my old limiting beliefs, feeling the ‘need’ to be somewhere. I am here now and that’s all that is important. “

“The fear of uncertainty”

“I want people to have more connection with their local businesses and be more supportive.”

“The busy-ness, the overcrowded headspace and life. “

“Over scheduling of weekends and weeknights.”

“Feeling rushed to fit things in.”

“Driving rather than walking.”

Question 3

As global citizens, what shall we leave behind us?

“I hope we leave behind us the “work hard, play hard(er)” mentality. How about “work an appropriate amount and play an appropriate amount as well.” Life is short, stress is toxic, and time is valuable. I don’t know fully how to lessen the intensity of many jobs out there that are more than 40-hours per week (like teaching) but there have to be structural ways that we go about it and/or individual ways to fight against it. I’ve personally been saying no to a lot of things and/or not volunteering. There is a “martyr” mentality I see out there too much in my profession… (and maybe this applies to womanhood in general!) but at the end of the day, how good can we be for the world (as global citizens) if we aren’t good to ourselves?”

“I would like the world to leave behind the greed and narrow views of corporate and world leaders that their actions do impact upon everyone.”

“I want to leave behind a caring and responsible attitude for the world and those around us.”

“I want us to leave behind the uncaring attitude towards the world and everyone/everything in it.”

“We shall leave behind our old materialistic selves and know that when we have our health and family, we are so rich with love and abundance.”

“The selfish idea that “These rules aren’t for me, they’re for someone else.” To stop caring for the wellbeing of your community and just go out and do what you want anyway, thinking just because you might be okay, that everything is fine.”

“I would like the world to leave behind the greed and narrow views of corporate and world leaders that their actions do impact upon everyone.”

“That we have power or influence of any kind…Mother Earth has cleansed and healed herself and we have been fortunate to be witness to that miracle. That we are separate from each other and the world around us, that we aren’t all connected, that our energy doesn’t influence others.”

“More a claiming than a leaving behind, but maintaining an overall sense of love and appreciation of each other.

“Keeping that sense that we are all in this life together and everything we do has impact on our general well being, including our planet.”

“Leave behind indiscriminate use of transportation, and purchasing, that contributes to pollution.”

“Keeping a sense that we don’t have to leave the home to have a good time.”

Wishing you a weekend full of what you want to keep. xxx
