3 Questions – April

I have returned from holidays this week, but to be honest, I need a holiday because of various family illnesses and other happenings.

And I am okay with this because I learned many years ago that to create a sustainable business that nourishes me, my life and my client’s needs, I need to have periods in my year where I rest, restore and rejuvenate.

Although I rarely come back from holiday needing a holiday, I booked my next break for this year last year, which means that the deep rest will still occur.

I am also someone that works four days a week, so my Fridays are my weekly rest days, and if I don’t need rest, I follow my inspiration which is very restful for the spirit.

Nothing in nature is on all of the time. Nature has seasons. We have seasons so that plants and animals can go to ground, recover, rest and restore, ready for the next season.

We are nature, so if we are on all the time, we do not give ourselves the ability to recover and restore ready for the next season.

I am very excited to be back at work; I am ready for the next season. And I know that my continued excitement for my work is because I give myself permission to rest, recover and restore without apology.

This month’s 3 questions are a chance for you to be honest about your ability to rest, restore and recover.

  1. When did you last feel rested? Actually, remember a time?
  2. What is the impact on you and others when you do not restore, recover and rest?
  3. When are you next going to give yourself permission to rest?

There is never ‘the time’ to rest; we must claim the time and carve it out without apology.

You have to give yourself permission to rest; no one else will give it to you.

Claim it. Own it. You are worthy of rest.

“When you rest, you catch your breath and it holds you up.” — Anne Lamott

As always, I would love to hear your insights, thoughts or musings.
